My best friend in the world, my almost 5 year old black lab Marley was just diagnosed with a stage 3 MCT. She's had her fair share of vet visits and we thought this was just another walk in the park until the fine needle aspirated revealed a very invading MCT which is located on her left ear. I can't tell you how hard it's been on me and my family. I raised her from just a little pup and took her everywhere. We took long car rides up in the mountains, went camping and shared everything together. My heart goes out to everyone effect by this horrible disease. It breaks my heart to think that the time spent with my loyal friend will be cut short, for no good reason at all. She didn't deserve this nor does any other dog affected by this disease. She was such a baby...way too young to die. As we cruely found out...canine cancer is more prevalent than we ever thought....and it can happen at any age. Our beloved Labrador Retriever, Ralph, who is pictured on this site, died suddenly of what appeared to be nasal cancer. It went undetected and one day his nose bled and within 24 hrs. he was gone. We were shocked, eventhough he was nine, we feel like he was gyped out of some quality years of life. It just seems so unacceptable to happen to a dog as young as yours. I wish I knew what could have prevented this ugly monster from taking our dogs precious lives...we thought we did everything right..but unfortunately, it doesn't always seem to matter. I hope you will get some comfort from this site. I was so upset and still am that my dog passed away so suddenly. I would lay in bed late at night...googling every site imaginable for answers. Unfortunately, the reality is canine cancer just happens..no matter how well we take care of our animals.This site really helped me feel better...and not so alone. Sharing my story with other animal lovers...some who have lost their best friends to cancer and some that just truly love animals and wanted to express their heartfelt condolences to us ...it was very touching and such a comfort. She wasn't even two. How in the world can this happen? Sasha was a nationally certified therapy dog working with special needs children and she had her CGC. The kids cried their eyes out today, when I told them that on Monday, Sasha died of cancer. The cancer was found in her spleen and lymph glands.
